I came to know about this dish through my sis’s tutor when she brought us this delicious chicken from Bali. This chicken is served with it’s special sauce from Bali. It’s rather spicy n smells really good. Whenever anyone travel to Bali now, my mom would order a few chicken to be brought back here for us.
By the way, they do have a branch in Jakarta Selatan at Kebayoran Baru.

Ayam taliwang- Lombok

This is my personal favourite. I first tasted this dish when I went for holiday at Lombok as every place serves this. This chicken is BBQed with some kind of peanut sauce which makes it somehow very spicy and very nice. I wouldn’t mind eating this everyday and still, I won’t get sick of this. After my first try in Lombok, I had this same dish for the rest of the trip. Recently, I just found out there’s also a place serving this in Jakarta At Casablanca.

Ayam penyet

This one is chicken, plus lots of chilli depending on how much u can take it. There are 4/5 levels. Normal up till super hot. I only managed to try till the hot level n I’m already all sweaty. There are many I know in Jakarta. This picture is taken at Tekko at Pantai Indah Kapuk (near Bukit Golf).

Other than these there are still other Ayams such as Ayam Kalasan, Ayam Presto few more others I have not tried before but these are my favourites.

Lifestyle In these small cities is different from life in the city. People sleeps and wakes up early. By 9 o’clock at night, most of the people would have turned in and by 6 in the morning, they would have started working.

Children get to run freely, fly kites and do whatever they want. So much freedom compared to children in the city would hav all their schedule all planned out for them with piano lesson, tuitions and extra classes.

In these town I noticed, there are no Merc on the roads, no Nike shops and no one carrying LVs. This can be a good thing as people there are not borthered by material goods. They seem satisfied with just what they have. They live with ridiculously much less earnings than what we have yet life still goes on well there due to the lower cost of living and also they do not long for material goods.

Costs of living in these towns are much lower in these towns. They have no KFCs there, they have their own ‘quick chicken’. Our meal there for a family of 4 ther costed less than sgd$8! That would only be able to by a single meal in Sgp or at most 2 meals in Jakarta.

Some clothes r even cheaper there. A shirt on average costs abt sgd$3 and we even got some shorts costing only 70cents each! It made me wonder how much does the production cost and what do these sellers earn. Those shorts are completely out of style and the quality is so bad. We bought a few in the end feeling bad rejecting them as they kept pestering us so badly and thinking that it costed only about 70cents each.

-Make sure legs touches the back of the board as u lie on the board.
-Wait for the push by the wave
-Push ur body up
-Bring ur right leg forward followed by left and make sure they are shoulder width.
-Keep ur body low for balance

All we took was just a couple of practices and we’re surfing already!

Day1
The 1st day was a bad experience. We were so excited that we spoiled my CRV’s aircon in the middle of the road n we gotta go back home to switch cars n travel back again.
We reached a small restaurant for dinner, n funny thing is tt the restaurant coincidentally celebrates bdays n it was my bday tt day.
Later that night, we reached Semarang midnight, we drove for abt 10hrs tt day.

Day2
We passed Solo in the aftrnoon to have the famous ‘nasi liwet’ around the streets. Just rice on a banana leaf, some shreded chicken n coconut milk but it’s DELICIOUS!
We reached my step-dad’s hometown Madiun late night again. We travelled for about 6hrs tt day.
We were reluctant to stay at his parents place to avoid giving trouble to dem but they insisted.
The place was a simple shophouse single storey with a few rooms n what made us feel worse was tt dey gave us the masterbedrm for us to slp in. We enjoyed the luxury of aircon while they slpt with a fan in the other room.

Day3-4
We drove to the mountain area called Sarangan, an hr drive from Madiun. We reached ther to rest for the night planning for my horseriding the next day. The hotel costed only abt sgd$30!

Early in the morning I woke up abt 7 upon hearing the clicking sound of the horses. I quikly got dressed n the horse rental guy was alr waiting for me with the horse outside my room. I rode the horse for a round n tt was damn fun as I got to control the horse by myself!

Day5
Tt day we began our trip back to jkt with a detour through Yogjakarta where the Borobudur was located at.

The Borobudur, from some sources is said to be one of the 7 wonders of the world. It’s a huge temple like place which is filled with buddha statues. And everything ther was made of stones. Unfortunately, many of the Buddha’s heads n hands were stollen through the past decades or so n thus this attraction is no longer complete.

We drove to further down till abt 2am to reach Pangendaran. We drove for 10 hrs tt day. A very tiring day.

Day6
We spent the last day at Pangendaran to walk around the island with many caves. There were rocks with allthe weird shapes due to corossion. We saw hedgehog, bats n komodo dragons, all were wild.

Then we drove back all the way to jkt, passing through Bandung. N tts ard central java in 6 days.
